A Labour MP has branded Brexiteers “absolute sh*tbag racist w*nkers” after Jacob Rees-Mogg said Britain should not be “enslaved by political correctness” as the Proms row rumbled on.

In a foul-mouthed late night tweet, Neil Coyle said “fat old racists” like Rees-Mogg would blame the EU if Brexit goes wrong and “their sh*t hits the fan”.

He was responding to a tweet from the Commons leader promoting a video of Boris Johnson calling for an end to “cringing national embarrassment about our history” after the BBC stripped the lyrics from a performance of Rule Britannia! due to their association with colonialism and slavery.

The BBC also ruled that Land Of Hope And Glory would be performed by an orchestra but without singing during the Last Night Of The Proms performance on September 12.

Coyle also said Rule Britannia! was a song for “sh*tlickers” as he shared a video of Nigel Farage singing it.

The row has been described in some quarters as the latest battleground in a so-called “culture war”.

Brexiteers rounded on Coyle for his outspoken tweet.

Former Brexit Party MEP Martin Daubney suggested Coyle had been “drunk-tweeting” and should spend time thinking “about why the working classes have abandoned you [Labour]”.

Commentator Darren Grimes meanwhile accused Coyle of “looking down” on Leavers who “aren’t ashamed of British culture”.
