'Big Brother' 2016: Alex Cannon And Sam Giffen Evicted In Cruel Twist Ahead Of Final

They fell at the final hurdle.

Big Brother’ contestants Alex Cannon and Sam Giffen have been evicted from the house in the series’ last shock twist.

The pair were unceremoniously booted out of the back door, just before the final, in scenes that aired on Monday (25 July) night’s episode of the Channel 5 reality show.

Both Alex and Sam were revealed to have polled the least number of votes out of the eight remaining contestants, as the group took part in a circus task.

They were told their fate by a fortune teller, who told them they would be leaving the house immediately, much to the distress of their fellow housemates, who were shocked at the news.

Speaking in the Diary Room on his way out, Alex said: “[I’m] devastated, gutted. I just don’t get it really.”

“I’m ready for home,” Sam added. “I’m ready to see my friends and family - ready to get out of this madhouse.”

Their exit leaves Hughie Maughan, Jayne Connery, Andy West, Jason Burrill, Evelyn Ellis and Jackson Blyton still in the running to win the 17th series of the show.

The bookies have Hughie tipped to walk out of the house as ‘BB’ champion, with odds of 2/5 with bookmakers William Hill.

The ‘Big Brother’ final airs on Tuesday from 9pm on Channel 5, with the new series of ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ launching just two days later.
