As if the MCU wasn’t already jam-packed, the exciting trailer has now dropped for the big-screen adaptation of ‘Captain Marvel’.
Brie Larson takes charge as the titular hero in the new clip, which debuted on Tuesday, marking the first time a woman has been the central character of a Marvel film.
The trailer begins with the character dropping to earth and landing in the middle of a Blockbuster video store (the film is set in the mid-1990s, we should stress).
Viewers are then treated to a number of flashbacks starring the character, hinting at her previous life on earth, while co-stars Jude Law and Samuel L Jackson also feature.
Oh, and she also punches an old woman in the face, which we imagine we’ll learn more about once we actually see the film.
Intriguingly, Samuel L Jackson’s character Nick Fury is seen in the clip with both of his eyes intact, suggesting we’ll learn more about his backstory in ‘Captain Marvel’.
Shortly after the trailer was released, Marvel also unveiled the film’s poster on its official Twitter account, showing its Oscar-winning lead in a powerful stance while sporting the iconic superhero outfit her character is known for.
The trailer’s release comes towards the end of a huge year for Marvel, following the trailblazing ‘Black Panther’ and the box office smash ‘Avengers: Infinity War’, which broke records within the superhero genre.
‘Captain Marvel’ marks Brie Larson’s debut as the character, though she will reprise it later in 2019, when she appears in the upcoming fourth instalment in the ‘Avengers’ series.
We’re still in for a little bit of a wait to see her debut, though, with ‘Captain Marvel’ currently slated for release in America in March 2019, meaning we’ll probably see it in the UK shortly afterwards, as has been the case with Marvel films since the company was bought out by Disney.
