Four-Week-Old Baby In Carjacked Audi Found Safe And Well

'If you know the idiots who did it let us know'.

A four-week-old baby girl who was inside an Audi when it was taken in a car-jacking has been found safe and well.

Dozens of officers had been deployed to search for a grey Audi A3 S-line in connection with the incident, and social media flooded with a police public appeal for help, on Thursday afternoon.

The car was targeted in Marie Drive, Acocks Green, in Birmingham, just after 4pm on Thursday, in an incident which left the baby’s mother needing hospital treatment.

The hunt for the car was on-going and the Audi is thought to have been travelling towards Solihull when last sighted.

Police are still looking for the grey Audi A3 S-line, registration BJ66 YLV, in connection with the incident, West Midlands Police said.

West Midlands Police’s Chief Constable David Thompson, speaking on Twitter, said: “Great we have reunited Mum and baby. If you know the idiots who did it let us know.”

Labour MP Jess Philips, who represents Birmingham Yardley, said on social media: “Very worrying and serious car jacking in my constituency today which involved a four-week old baby being snatched.

“Thankfully all safe home now but the rise of such crime as well as violent crime so worrying, especially as our police are so stretched.”

Earlier this week, a young mother was forced to flee in terror carrying her baby as carjackers dragged her partner away from their family car in the Nechells area of the city.
