Do you ever find yourself thinking that exercise is sometimes 'lonely' or 'boring'? Maybe you want to get fit but just need something a little more vibrant and sociable than running to motivate you.

Do you ever find yourself thinking that exercise is sometimes 'lonely' or 'boring'? Maybe you want to get fit but just need something a little more vibrant and sociable than running to motivate you.

Don't worry, we've all been there and everybody likes different things so if you don't like running like John next door or tennis like Karen at work, that's ok! There are a whole host of activities that will keep you fit and that you'll enjoy too.

One option would be join a Dance-Cardio class. They're fun, inexpensive and can be done with friends. Perfect for getting fit, having a giggle and then catching up over a healthy, but delicious, smoothie afterwards.

Here's some information about it so give it a go!

What is Dance-Cardio?

Dance-Cardio is a new workout that combines different high-energy forms of dancing with a high/medium impact workout. It burns lots of calories and will tone you up in no time. Combining dance and cardio in your workout is something I've always believed in so it's also what I base my client's workouts on.

It's also great for people like me who suffer from Asthma. From experience, I know that when you have Asthma, it can be tough doing cardio. That's why I'm always tentative going for long runs or bike rides. Dance-Cardio solves this problem. Whether it's psycho-symatic I don't know, but entering a dance cardio class is a completely different story. It's fun, interesting, and I always feel good doing it. I've never seen a frowning face when anyone dances, so using dance as a workout definitely has its plus's!

Where can you do it?

So you can obviously do this in the privacy of your own home. However, I definitely recommend joining a class as doing it with a group of women is where you'll really get your buzz. Everyone travelling the same way, busting the same moves and feeling like you could be backing Justin Timberlake really takes the mundaneness out of your usually boring workouts. It's something that is sweeping the globe and I couldn't recommend it more.

There are lots of places you can sign up to classes across the UK. To find one near you, just Google 'Dance Cardio Class' and your postcode.

Top Tip:

After all of that exercise you might be feeling peckish but don't give in to a quick fix. You've worked so hard to burn off those calories so don't throw them all away on a chocolate bar or any other unhealthy snack.

Before setting off, make sure that you've prepared a snack to take with you. Don't worry, this doesn't need to take long to prepare. A handful of unsalted nuts or a snack pack of dried fruit will do just the job and taste great too. Plus, they'll give you more energy for longer as they slowly release their energy. This will stop you from getting a buzz from the high sugar release which will then drop to leave your feeling more tired than you felt before. Nuts are also great for your hair, skin and nails so you'll not only feel better but you'll look great too. I really like almonds and cashews.
