Childhood Sweethearts Who Met In Nursery Get Married After Reuniting 30 Years Later

What a wonderful love story

A couple who went to nursery school together and lost touch have tied the knot, after reuniting 30 years later.

Amy Pounders (formerly Giberson) first met Justin Pounders at the tender age of three. But the pair grew up and ended up going to separate schools and colleges.

In time, they forgot about one another.

But roughly 30 years after they first met as nursery school sweethearts, Amy and Justin met again on a dating website.

Two years on, are madly in love and have just tied the knot.

“It feels nothing short of a dream come true being married to Justin, my preschool crush,” Amy, 34, told The Huffington Post UK.

“Never in my wildest dreams did I think it would be like this. I’m what I call a ‘hopeful romantic’ and I’ve read every Nicholas Sparks novel, I’ve cried at each ending, hoping that one day, my story would be so amazing.

“Sadly my life has been identical to the movie ‘He’s just not that into you’.”

She added: “I never gave up hope for my love story though, and it truly blows my mind to have this kind of love and with such an incredible man.”

The pair married on 18 November in front of 200 guests and are currently honeymooning in St Lucia.

Amy said: “Our wedding was nothing short of perfection, not because of all of the details but because I woke up last Friday and, in front of all of our friends and family, I got to marry my best friend.

“Oh, and drink a couple beers during our ceremony.”

The pair first met in nursery school, aged three, but later drifted apart - going to different schools and both moving away from their hometown of St Petersburg. Before long, they were simply a blip on one another’s radars.

Some might call it fate, but 30 years later they were “matched” on an online dating site again.

Little did they know they’d already shared a romance in their youth.

Pounders said he had been instantly attracted to Giberson when he spotted her photograph on Match.com last November. And she felt exactly the same.

The pair texted and called each other every day until they met for a first date at a restaurant.

“When we met up and we hugged, it was like I had known him my whole life,” Amy recalled.

The pair quickly fell in love, however it wasn’t until a year into their relationship that they realised they had met many years before.

They were in the car discussing their youth when Justin mentioned he loved Amy’s name because he had liked a girl called Amy when he was at nursery school.

They then realised that they went to the same nursery school, at the same time, and asked their parents to find any photographs from those days.

Sure enough, a photograph of the pair as three-year-olds resurfaced.

“I just started crying, I was ecstatic,” Amy said. “I was the Amy he had liked all those years ago! It was definitely meant to be.”
