Former Love Island contestant Chris Hughes has said he’s never been happier than he is in his current relationship with Jesy Nelson.
Chris and Jesy were first rumoured to be an item earlier this year, when they were pictured kissing in a kebab shop after a night out.
Though the two later claimed they were just friends, the Little Mix singer strongly hinted they were together when she shared romantic photos of herself and Chris on her Instagram story.
Speaking to Kiss Breakfast on Thursday morning, Chris cleared up the rumours, confirming they were an “official” couple and referring to Jesy as his “girlfriend”.
“I’m the happiest I’ve ever been,” he said. “She’s the nicest girl I’ve ever met, this is no exaggeration, she’s got a heart like she was your mother or something. She’s so caring.
“We just get on like best mates, and that’s the beauty about it.”
Kem Cetinay – Chris’ Love Island bestie, who was also in the studio, agreed that it was great to see his pal so loved-up, but did point out that comparing Jesy to his mum probably wasn’t the best idea.
“I’ve never seen him like this, and we’re very close,” Kem said, before adding: “I know we’ve only known each other two years!”
Jesy split from her ex-boyfriend Harry James in November after 16 months together. Prior to that, she dated TOWIE star Chris Clark.
Chris found fame on the 2017 series of Love Island, where he embarked on a relationship with fellow contestant Olivia Attwood.
The pair later moved in together and landed their own ITVBe fly-on-the-wall series, but split during filming.
Chris was later linked to former Coronation Street actor Georgia May Foote and Made In Chelsea star Emily Blackwell.
