Viral star Ladbaby has topped the Christmas chart for the second consecutive year, with another ode to sausage rolls.
Last year, Ladbaby – the alias of YouTube star and “dad blogger” Mark Hoyle – reached the festive top spot with a parody of Starship’s We Built This City, with the lyrics changed to “we built this city on sausage rolls”.
He has now managed the feat for the second year running, as revealed on Friday, this time reaching number one with a new parody called I Love Sausage Rolls.
Even more impressively, sales of I Love Sausage Rolls were 18,000 copies higher than last year’s tune, with proceeds for the novelty song – and its predecessor – going to the food bank charity The Trussell Trust.
Ladbaby told OfficialCharts: “How have we done this again? It’s the best feeling in the world – it’s a Christmas miracle yet again!
“Thank you everybody for supporting us once again, and all for an amazing cause. It’s going to the Trussell Trust – to the 14 million people living in poverty in the UK. Who doesn’t love a sausage roll at Christmas?”
Missing out on the Christmas number one spot was Stormzy, with his collaboration with Ed Sheeran and Burna Boy, Own It.
Lewis Capaldi was at number three with his latest track Before You Go, ahead of Dua Lipa’s Don’t Start Now and Wham!’s Last Christmas, the highest-charting classic Christmas tune of this year’s festive chart.
Own It was one of three Stormzy tunes in the top 10, with album cuts Audacity and Lessons entering at numbers six and nine, respectively.
Stormzy had been vying for a spot at the top of the album chart against Harry Styles, with both stars releasing their sophomore albums last Friday, but it was actually Sir Rod Stewart who held onto the number one for the second week in a row.
On Thursday, Stormzy and Harry put their chart battle aside when they performed a surprise duet of the rapper’s chart-topping track Vossi Bop at a show in London.
