The Beckhams were among the stars who joined the nation in applauding NHS workers and carers on their doorsteps on Thursday night.
At 8pm on Thursday, people around the country took to their balconies and doorsteps to clap and cheer, as a gesture of collective thanks to frontline healthcare heroes.
That same night, Victoria Beckham shared a video on her Instagram page showing husband David and children Harper, Cruz and Romeo outside their home applauding.
She wrote: “Happy to be able to come together tonight with the whole country to thank the brave healthcare workers and brilliant NHS working tirelessly in the fight against COVID-19. Xx”
David added in the video: “We’re so proud of you, thank you so much.”
James Bond star Daniel Craig and wife Rachel Weisz also recorded a tribute, which was shared on the official James Bond Twitter account.
The same video also featured footage of fellow Bond stars Ben Whishaw and Naomie Harris.
Britain’s Got Talent judge Amanda Holden posted a clip of herself and her two daughters on their doorstep applauding, writing: “So emotional. Our neighbours have gone mad. I can hear fireworks and cars beeping.”
Meanwhile, This Morning presenters Ruth Langsford and Phillip Schofield also shared their own videos of the moment their neighbourhoods came out to applaud.
“It’s not much but it shows we care,” Ruth wrote.
Phillip commented: “Thank you for being there on the front line for all of us. Tonight and always we applaud you.”
BBC Radio 1 breakfast show DJ Greg James said: “Oh my God that was properly brilliant wasn’t it. Also, most brilliantly British thing ever bashing pots and pans. Extraordinary times can only be overcome with extraordinary acts of humanity.”
Match Of The Day presenter Gary Lineker said the mass tribute “brings a tear to the eye”, while Star Wars actor John Boyega called the moment “beautiful”.
Rod Stewart, accompanied by his family including wife Penny Lancaster at his home in Florida, shared a video of their tribute.
The veteran rocker said: “Our family want to say a huge thank you to everyone working in the NHS as well as to all the health care workers and emergency services that are helping keep Britain’s families safe in these extremely difficult times.”
Gavin & Stacey creator James Corden, who is in Los Angeles, said seeing footage of the nation clapping made him feel “incredibly proud”, admitting he had “felt more homesick these past few days than maybe ever”.
US actor and writer Lena Dunham, who is living in the UK while working on an HBO drama, posted a video of cheering and applause from her street and said:
“Thank you to the amazing health workers; we are so lucky!”
