How To Clean A Wooden Cutting Board With Salt

Clean A Wooden Cutting Board Without Warping It

Our cutting boards are out in full force during the summer months as we are dicing, slicing and preparing great food togrill. As we all know, it's important to clean and sanitize your cutting board to avoid lingering bacteria. Unfortunately, unlike plastic cutting boards, wooden ones can't be washed in a dishwasher because the high temperatures can ruin the wood. Luckily, we've got a tip on how to clean and disinfect wooden cutting boards with just some salt and lemon!

First, run the cutting board under warm water. Then, sprinkle coarse salt all over the surface of the board. Next, squeeze the juice from half of a lemon onto the board. Use a small scrub brush to work the salt and lemon into the board. This will help get rid of any residual food and sanitize the board. Then, run the cutting board under hot water to rinse off the salt and lemon solution. Finally, let the cutting board dry in an upright position.
