There’s more drama ahead for Leanne Battersby in ‘Coronation Street’, who is reportedly set to discover she’s pregnant in an upcoming storyline.
Leanne - played by long-serving ‘Corrie’ star Jane Danson - will be at the centre of a shocking story arc, in which she will discover that she’s expecting a child with another Weatherfield resident.
Even more surprising is the identity of the mystery father, as Leanne is to find out she’s pregnant following a one-night stand with none other than Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson).
We get it. Anything to ensure you spend more time with Liz McDonald - eh, Leanne?
An insider tells The Sun: “Steve will be left in a tricky situation when he finds out that Leanne is pregnant - and refuses to have an abortion.”
Leanne has had a difficult time of it in ‘Corrie’ over the past few years, with her troublesome stepson, Simon Barlow, becoming increasingly more abusive in recent times, to the point she alerted the police to his behaviour, when she falsely believes that he had deliberately injured a fellow pupil at his school during a football match.
She was also dealt a blow when her fiancé, Kal Nazir, died in an explosion last year, while trying to save her life.
Jane Danson first joined ‘Corrie’ in 1997, when Leanne and her fellow Battersby family members caused a stir when they arrived in the scene.
Addressing her character’s turbulent past in an interview a few years back, Jane joked: “She's a loose cannon and she's destined to end up in a really bad way. I wonder how long she can keep picking herself up and dusting herself down - she's probably had six of her nine lives by now!”
