Jake Quickenden and his ‘Dancing On Ice’ partner Vanessa Bauer have been crowned this year’s champions, following Sunday night’s (12 March) live final.
Former ‘X Factor’ singer Jake beat stiff competition from ‘Coronation Street’ star Brooke Vincent and rugby union player Max Evans to be voted the winner of the first series of ‘Dancing On Ice’ since it returned to our screens.
During the live final, each of the remaining couples was required to deliver an all-new skating routine, in addition to their favourite performance from the series, with Jake and Vanessa opting for their ‘Canned Heat’ number.
Following the news of his victory, an excited Jake declared: “I might not have to do any more reality shows now!”
Indeed, despite being a singer/songwriter and presenter, Jake is undeniably best known for his numerous appearances on reality TV shows, starting with two separate appearances on ‘The X Factor’.
Just weeks after his second ‘X Factor’ stint came to an end in 2014, where he finished in 12th place, he became a late addition to the ‘I’m A Celebrity’ jungle.
He wound up finishing in second place that series, behind motorcycle racer Carl Fogarty, whose daughter, Danielle, he later became engaged to.
Last year, it was reported that Jake had been training as a reserve to take part in Channel 4’s winter sports series ‘The Jump’, though he never actually wound up taking to the slopes, despite several stars having to bow out of the show early due to injury.
ITV has already announced that a new series of ‘Dancing On Ice’ - the eleventh overall and second of the current reboot - will air in 2019.
