Dangerous Driver Given Four-Year Jail Term After Killing Nine-Year-Old Boy

A dangerous driver has been jailed for four years for killing a nine-year-old boy just hours after he rented his speeding vehicle.

Atif Dayaji, 27, drove about 67mph on a 30mph road in Blackburn, Lancashire, when he collided with Adam Imfal-Limbada.

Adam was returning home from the mosque with his father when the pair were briefly separated and the youngster was struck as he crossed the road alone.

He was taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Dayaji had earlier rented a BMW 4 Series on the afternoon of August 4 last year before the collision took place in Whalley New Road at about 10.55pm.

He pleaded guilty last month at Preston Crown Court to causing death by dangerous driving.

On Thursday, Dayaji, of St Stephens Avenue, Blackburn, was also banned from the wheel for five years.

Following sentencing, his family said: “Adam was a joyful boy who would liven up the room with his good personality. Everybody in the community knew him, would talk to him and laugh with him. He was a very much-loved son and brother, who was adored by everyone.

“He is greatly missed and the pain we have gone through and are going through is unbearable. We wouldn’t wish it upon anyone.”
