'Strictly Come Dancing': Danny John-Jules Crashes To Bottom Of Leaderboard Just Two Weeks After Topping It

He had been one of this year's favourites.

There was a shock for ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ viewers on Saturday night, as one of the favourites crashed to the bottom of the leaderboard.

Danny John-Jules found himself with just 22 points out of a possible 40 after a performance the judges said was full of “so many mistakes”.

The actor and his partner Amy Dowden had performed a Quickstep to ‘Freedom’ by Pharrell Williams, but after getting off on the wrong foot, they failed to pull it back.

Judge Craig Revel Horwood told them: “Nerves and adrenaline took over in that performance, because it went completely out of wack. Better luck next time.”

Shirley Ballas added: “You push your strengths and hide your weaknesses. It snowballed and then didn’t recover. I really believe it was a misstep of nerves that couldn’t be picked up.”

It was a huge fall from grace for Danny, who just two weeks ago, topped the leaderboard after scoring the first 10 of the series for his Jive.

Meanwhile, at the other end of this week’s leaderboard, Ashley Roberts found herself at the top again after an impressive Foxtrot.

The routine to ‘Orange Coloured Sky’ by Natalie Cole earned her and partner Pasha Kovalev 39 points.

Faye Tozer and Giovanni Pernice were hot on their heels with 38 points for their Tango to Blondie’s ‘Call Me’.

Stacey Dooley also bounced back from injury to score 36 points for her street commercial dance to Alicia Keys’ ‘Empire State Of Mind’.

The documentary maker and partner Kevin Clifton were forced to miss two days of training earlier this week, after she tore a muscle in her rib.

Kate Silverton also suffered a rib injury leading up to Saturday’s show, but did not have the same fortunes as Stacey when she took to the floor with Aljaz Skorjanec.

She scored just 23 points for the first Argentine Tango of the series, which was set to ‘Assassin’s Tango’.

Craig remarked: “I felt it was stuck in the mud. I know the audience loved it, but for me it was too heavy, it needs to be a lot lighter.”

The next celebrity will leave ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ during tonight’s results show, airing from 7.45pm on BBC One.
