University student Katie Rosebrook, from Iowa, USA, shared a snap of her wearing a shoelace as a choker - which has since been retweeted almost 50,000 times.

“This choker trend is wild y’all,” she captioned the photo.

“Wore a shoelace to the bars last night and I’ve never gotten so many compliments thanks Nike, just do it lol.”

TBH there really is no point in spending the best part of a tenner on a bit of suede when you could just repurpose your trainer laces instead.
