Pride and Pilfering, or Sense and Succotash

We had a really fun day today. The show went well. Not a huge crowd, but very friendly. Our show was reviewed by Broadway Baby and they gave it four stars! Plus we got a great review from The Stage too. They don't give stars out in their rating, they just review the show.

We had a really fun day today. The show went well. Not a huge crowd, but very friendly. Our show was reviewed by Broadway Baby and they gave it four stars! Plus we got a great review from The Stage too. They don't give stars out in their rating, they just review the show.

Anyway, after the show, I barely had time to change clothes and left my stage makeup on, so we could race over to the venue where 'Austentatious' was playing. (Venue 170). It's a 'free fringe' show, but it's really popular, so you need to get there early and queue up. We waiting for a little over a half an hour, and were almost the last people to get a chair (way in the back). The people who were in line after us stood along the side.

The show is an improv one, but it's Jane Austen based. Using audience suggestions, they improvise a Jane Austen novel. Hilarious. Waiting in the line, one of the costumed actors handed out sheets of paper and you were supposed to fill out the faux Jane Austen novel they'd concoct. I wrote down "Pride and Pilfering" or "Sense and Succotash" and darned if they didn't choose my idea out of a basket. The faux novel was pretty funny.

Captain Drake, who just returned to Little Wickham, was trying to turn over a new leaf, but had a history of theft, (magic fingers). Characters were introduced and the story whizzed right along. The actors and the audience had fun.

Afterwards we had lunch at The Abbey, and walked around pasting stars to our Property Known As Garland posters. We were able to see the Kev Orkian show at the Space @ Symposium Hall. Very funny. Kind of a cross between Don Rickles and Victor Borge. We rode up to our flat in the elevator with the Mickey and Judy cast (they're living in the same building we are) and according to the piano player, Mr. Orkian actually lifted a chunk of Victor Borge's routine...homage? Or theft.

He really did it well, so I say homage. We're hoping to fit in one more show tonight 'Colin Mars a Life Full of Lemons'.
