Emma Bunton Joins US Version Of 'Great British Bake Off' As New Host, According To Reports

Well... we didn't see that coming.

Emma Bunton is poised to join the American version of ‘Great British Bake Off’ as its new host, according to reports.

The former (or current, depending on which way the wind is blowing) Spice Girls singer has bagged the presenting role, according to Reality Blurred, amid big changes at the ‘Great American Baking Show’.

Ayesha Curry, who previously hosted the ‘Great American Baking Show’, has left the show after landing a new job at ‘Family Food Fight’, while former judge Johnny Iuzzini has been dropped after being accused by more than one woman of sexual harassment.

American chef Sherry Yard will take over from Iuzzini, while Paul Hollywood will return for a second year.

Paul took over as a judge for last year’s series of the ‘Great American Baking Show’, following the departure, awkwardly enough, of his former ‘Great British Bake Off’ co-star Mary Berry.

Mary’s spokesperson said at the time: “Mary would have loved to have joined Paul and Johnny for a guest appearance, but unfortunately it wasn’t possible due to her current filming commitments.”

Emma Bunton is best known as one fifth of the Spice Girls, has been widely rumoured to be part of a reunion for the last couple of years, though exact details of the project, and which members will be taking part, have always remained vague.

Away from the band, Emma has served as a judge on ‘Dancing On Ice’, ‘Your Face Sounds Familiar’ and, more recently, the US talent show ‘Boy Band’, as well as presenting the Heart London breakfast show, with co-host Jamie Theakston.

Her former bandmate Geri Horner was rumoured to be in the running for the job of presenting Channel 4′s ‘Bake Off’ reboot in 2016, after taking part in the celebrity version of the show.

HuffPost UK has contacted representatives for Emma Bunton for clarification.
