Football Fans Warned To Steer Clear Of Unofficial Outlets For Euro 2016 Tickets

Football fans are being warned of the dangers of unofficial ticket outlets for Euro 2016 after Uefa took legal action to prevent a rogue website from offering tickets for the competition.

The website guaranteetickets.com has been ordered to stop selling tickets to matches and using Uefa's trademarks, with the company behind it, Akirma Venture Limited, risking a fine of 1,000 euro a day if it fails to comply.

The site was not licensed to sell Euro 2016 tickets and Uefa has already taken down a number of unauthorised sites offering to buy or sell tickets.

With England, Wales and Northern Ireland all qualified for this summer's tournament Uefa expect unprecedented numbers of British fans to travel to France and is concerned that with high levels of demand fraudsters will target supporters.

Nick Bitel, solicitor for Uefa, said: "This summer will see a fantastic festival of football but fans intending to travel should only do so if they have bought tickets from official channels."

Uefa has launched its own re-sale portal, https://tickets.uefa.com/euro-resale, which allows fans to sell and buy tickets at face value.
