Gemma Collins and Piers Morgan are not two people you’d immediately think would get on, but following his unexpected praise of her Dancing On Ice stint, the pair had an absolute love-in on Monday’s Good Morning Britain.

While Piers has a well-documented dislike of reality stars, he and The GC exchanged compliments and flirty banter, to the point where Gemma later proclaimed herself his “new TV wife”.

She appeared on the ITV breakfast show as a guest entertainment reporter, having been invited on after Piers publicly praised her recovery from her horror fall on DOI.

Gemma thanked him “from the bottom of her heart” for his comments, telling him on Monday: “You’re such a powerful voice. To have you speak up for me has boosted my confidence.”

He replied: “I really admire your guts I really do. When you fell over and got back up that was ballsy.”

As conversation later turned to the rumoured romance between Naomi Campbell and Liam Payne, Gemma flirted with Piers as she gave her views on dating younger men.

“I always thought I wanted silver fox like yourself [Piers],” she said.

“I always wanted an older man but the older I’ve got, someone like yourself [Piers,] you could educate me, but when you’re an older woman going out with a younger guy you have that power over them.”

Gemma later posted an Instagram video of her and Piers behind the GMB desk, where she had replaced Piers’ usual co-host, Susanna Reid.

She said she “hoped to be back very soon”, before adding: “I’m the new wife – move over Susanna,” she said, in front of the shocked presenter.

“Susanna, who?” Piers added.

Seeing Piers had certainly put a smile on Gemma’s face, after she was left in tears on Sunday’s Dancing On Ice.

She claimed to have lost her confidence after her horror fall the previous week, with her legs “turning to jelly” while showcasing her fairytale-themed routine with partner Matt Evers.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
