Geri Horner has finally spoken out, amid claims that she slept with her former bandmate Mel B at the height of their Spice Girls fame.
Last week, Geri was at the centre of rumours, started by Mel B, that the two of them had a one-night stand in the 1990s, while both still in the Spice Girls.
Initially declining to comment when contacted by HuffPost UK, Geri issued a statement after the Daily Mail suggested the pair had actually been romantically involved for around a year.
Geri’s rep said of the “disappointing” rumours: “Geri is really grateful for your support and loyalty for so many years. She loves the Spice Girls: Emma, Melanie, Melanie and Victoria.
“She would like you to know that what has been reported recently is simply not true and has been very hurtful to her family. Moving forward, Geri can’t wait to see the girls and all the fans on the tour, have an amazing time with everyone, and make some new memories.”
A spokesperson for Mel B declined to comment when contacted by HuffPost UK.
During a recent taping of Piers Morgan’s Life Stories, Mel B the host: “She is going to hate me for this because she is all posh in her country house and her husband, but it’s a fact [that they slept together].
“It just happened and we just giggled at it and that was it. She had great boobs. We were best friends. It just happened.”
Mel later revealed that she’d been in contact with Geri to clear the air after making her initial comments.
Both Mel and Geri will join their Spice Girls bandmates Melanie C and Emma Bunton on their reunion tour, which kicks off this summer, though Victoria Beckham has declined to be involved.
