Giant Abelisaurus Dinosaur Footprint Found In Boliva

A giant dinosaur footprint measuring over a metre in width has been discovered in Bolivia.

It is thought to have been made by an Abelisaurus, a biped meat-eating predator which lived around 80 million years ago.

Measuring 1.2 metres, the print is one of the largest of its kind ever found. It was discovered some 40 miles outside the city of Sucre in central Bolivia.

Paleontologist Sebastian Apesteguia told Reuters: “This print is bigger than any other we have found to date in the area.

“It is a record in size for carnivorous dinosaurs from the end of the Cretaceous period in South America.”

The Abelisaurus probably reached up to nine metres in length - about the length of a UK double-decker bus.
