It is usually the stars of Gogglebox passing comment on the shows they are watching, but viewers found a lot to say about one particular element of Friday’s episode.

They were left absolutely grossed out after seeing the unusual way Lee Riley eats a piece of toast.

During a chat with his best pal Jenny Newby, Lee was seen dunking his toast into a cup of tea.

“Do you have to do that?” a horrified Jenny said. “You’re disgusting, you!”

And much like how Love Island viewers were upset with the way Lucie Donlan once simultaneously ate an apple and a banana, fans agreed with Jenny...

Friday’s Gogglebox was actually the last in the series, meaning Lee is now free to move back into his own home.

Lee has been living with Jenny in her caravan in Hull during lockdown so that they could continue to film the show together within government guidelines.

However, during the series, Gogglebox has come under fire from some fans, as Ellie and Izzi Warner filmed together despite not living in the same household.

After TV watchdog Ofcom received 163 complaints, Channel 4 maintained that they were still sticking to social distancing rules, with a representative saying in a statement: “Most of the families live together but where they don’t, they are complying with PHE [Public Health England] social distancing guidelines.

“Gogglebox will only film with families where it’s safe to do so. The health and safety of our cast and crew is paramount.”

Gogglebox makers previously announced that they had taken measures to allow “the families to take part without any contact from crew” with their homes fitted with remote cameras.

Gogglebox returns to Channel 4 in September, with a new celebrity series beginning on Friday 5 June.
