Great British Bake Off fans were gutted with the results of this week’s show, which saw the remaining contestants attempting to serve up an ice cream cake in sweltering conditions.

The latest episode of the Channel 4 show was filmed in the heat of the summer, with the amateur bakers having to contend not just with the pressure of the competition, but high temperatures in the tent.

For the 80s-themed challenges, the contestants had to stand over a deep fat fryer to make finger doughnuts, which had mixed results for a few of the bakers.

They were then tasked with making a unique ice cream cake in the showstopper challenge, which had disastrous results for one fan favourite...
