Guardians of the Galaxy - The Review

So, a year after your last blog on Guardians of the Galaxy, was it worth the wait?

Definitely. A fun, action packed, occasionally moving, occasionally filthy live action comic book fantasy.

The cast is terrific, Chris Pratt is perfect as the heroic Star Lord, while Zoe Saldana as sexy as ever as the green skinned Gamora.

And what about that Raccoon and tree creature?

Rocket and Groot are instant iconic heroes that will make you laugh and cry. And millions will be repeating "I Am Groot" as they leave the theatre.

Does it expand the Marvel universe?

You bet. It slots in perfectly to The Avengers, adding depth to Thanos's credit cookie, but also stands alone as a great adventure.

Is it worth sitting through the endless credits for another teaser credit cookie clip?

Most definitely, and if you read my blog on Guardians last August (2013), by a stroke of luck the character I thought would never get his own movie reboot now looks very possible. I'm thrilled at the thought.

Is the score any good?

Fantastic. A wealth of retro classics which is bound to shift plenty of soundtracks.

How's Karen Gillan?

Rather good. Barely recognisable, but she commands the screen during her few scenes.

Is it worth a second look?

Definitely. I saw it in IMAX 3D, and it looks and sounds amazing, but the 2D version should be as much fun.

Can we expect a sequel?

Yep. The closing credits tell us so, but you don't need that or a crystal ball. This has sequel stamped all over it.
