The most and least happy places to live in the UK have been revealed - and it’s good news for those living in the Outer Hebrides.
A new interactive wellbeing map from the Office of National Statistics (ONS) has revealed that Na h-Eileanan Siar, a small series of islands off the west coast of mainland Scotland, topped the list as the happiest place to reside.
This was followed by Mid and East Antrim in Northern Island, Newark and Sherwood in the East Midlands, Purbeck in Dorset, and the Orkney Islands.
Meanwhile the least happiest places to live were East Northamptonshire, Fenland in Cambridgeshire, Burnley, Liverpool, Corby, Wolverhampton, Greenwich and Worthing.
The ONS wellbeing map shows estimates of personal wellbeing for UK local authorities over the last five years.
Dawn Snape from the Office for National Statistics, said: “We have seen personal wellbeing improving on a UK-wide basis over the past five years.
“But today’s data paints a richer picture, enabling people to explore what’s been happening in their local area.
“This will help individuals, communities and local authorities to look at wellbeing locally alongside other traditional measures of progress.”
