Here's to the Next Five Days

Twelve days into The Greatest Show on earth and after weeks of grey clouds and rain, Team GB have found their medal winning form and (at times!) the clouds are clearing. The energy on the streets grows palpably with every new medal win and a rather weary nation is cautiously emerging and daring to start to celebrate a little.

The Opening Ceremony was a triumph. Well done to my friends at Crystal Technologies for their LED light show featuring everything from tube maps, to flags and fireworks : for me it was between the corgis and the Crystal tech for the starring performance of the night - great show Danny .

Tim Berners-Lee also tweeted live from the Opening Ceremony to signal the most connected games ever. And now athletes in the Village are tweeting, over 20,000 media on the Park are filing their reports, sending photographs and broadcasting to the world. It's really quite something to see the first Twitter games coming to life in front of my eyes.

One of my favourite moments so far (like everyone else on the planet) was the 100 meters final and I can't wait for the 200 meters final. Whilst I will be routing for Christian Malcolm, my eye will be will of course also be on Bolt.

I have to say thank you America for Gregory Porter . Ive always believed the Olympics is about more than sport - it's hope and dreams, talent and hard work. Brooklyn based vocalist gregory Porter stunned the crowd at the After Dark sessions at BT London Live Hyde Park recently and we are all very grateful he came to visit us here in Europe - what a huge talent!

So - here's to the next five days. We may not always get sunshine , but if Team GB can sustain their winning streak, the nation will be a whole lot cheerier .. And thats no bad thing.
