'Hunger Games' Leisure Centres Could Be Coming To A City Near You (But Hopefully Minus All Of The Killing)

Release your inner Katniss Everdeen.

Fancy getting fit while fearing for your life? Well this could soon be a reality as Lionsgate is opening a series of film-themed leisure centres across the globe.

The company behind films such as ‘The Hunger Games’ and ‘Saw’ has teamed up with leisure centre specialist Parques Reunidos to develop a range of themed facilities, Variety reported.

Parques Reunidos has reportedly signed a deal with Lakeside shopping centre in Essex to open one of its themed fitness centres.

The centres will also pop up in Madrid, Murcia and Lisbon - to name but a few.

Lionsgate’s Jenefer Brown, senior VP of location based entertainment, said of the move: “We’re excited to be partnering with Parques Reunidos. They have proven success in the leisure market, and we feel they are the perfect partners to help us bring fans closer to the properties they love through these compelling, innovative experiences.”

While there aren’t any specific details on what the leisure centres will look or be like as of yet, we’re imagining a very immersive experience based on each of the films.

With The Hunger Games, there might even be some bow and arrow action à la Katniss Everdeen. But hopefully without all of the death and brutality.
