I’m A Celebrity fans have been left outraged by a voting error, blasting bosses for not cancelling the first elimination of the series after an “unfair” result.

Friday night’s show saw viewers given the chance to save their favourite campmates from becoming the first to be sent home, but a “wording error” on the show’s official app led to votes being discounted.

While viewers voting by phone had been opting to save their favoured campmate, the app had asked fans to “vote off” their preferred celebrity.

In a bid to clear up the confusion, hosts Ant and Dec announced that votes cast on the app had been discarded and only those made via phone would count towards the first elimination.

As a result, Adele Roberts became the first campmate to leave the jungle.

It left many viewers claiming the vote should have been cancelled altogether, with some suggesting that the error had led to a different outcome.

The result was also branded “unfair” by Adele’s fellow Radio 1 DJs Matt Edmondson and Mollie King on Saturday morning.

“When was the last time you made a phone call? I think something fishy has gone on,” Matt said live on air.

Speaking after her exit, Adele said: “I am just amazed that I lasted that long. I’m just so glad I finished my time in the jungle without saying I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! because I thought I was going to say it so many times. At least I am first at something.”

She said she was “happy for anyone to win it” but then showed her support for her best friend in camp, adding: “But Nadine.”

James Haskell, Myles Stephenson and Ian Wright were immune from the public vote, after managing to become un-cursed by winning the day’s Bushtucker Trials.

Find out who will be next to leave camp when I’m A Celebrity continues tonight at 9.10pm on ITV.
