I'm A Celebrity 2020: First-Look Castle Photos Show Contestants' Living Quarters

Things will look very different indeed in the upcoming series.

The first photos of the all-new I’m A Celebrity camp have been unveiled, ahead of the new series’ launch over the weekend.

Because of the coronavirus crisis, the show has moved from the Australian jungle – where it’s been held for the last 19 series – to Gwrych Castle in Wales.

Newly-released pictures show just how different the I’m A Celebrity experience will be for this year’s group of contestants.

While the stars will be able to take shelter inside the castle, they’ll need to chop their own firewood in order to keep themselves warm, as well as pumping their own “lukewarm” water.

The castle laundry has been transformed into the communal bedroom, where the stars will be provided with either a hammock or an iron frame bed, topped with just a thin mattress.

Other locations around the castle – including the dungeons and the crypt – will be used for the Bushtucker Trial.

Meanwhile, with the jungle shower out for this year’s series, the contestants will bathe with water from a hot watering can in a tin bath, which they’ll need a fellow contestant to pump while they stand under it.

And one rather grim detail is the fact the contestants will share an outdoor toilet, the castle privy, which needs to be emptied manually.

Some details from the jungle have remained, though, namely the inclusion of the red telephone box, which the stars use to win Dingo Dollars (although this time around, the currency of choice will be Castle Coins).

This year, they’ll be answering questions over the phone from Kiosk Cledwyn who producers have said is “Kiosk Kev’s long-lost Welsh cousin and he is every bit as grumpy.”

I’m A Celebrity producer Tom Gould said: “Once we decided and committed to doing this, it has been a real labour of love and a chance to reimagine and reinvent the show, but also keep the parts of it we know viewers know and love and recognise.”
