How do you like to celebrate your birthday? A party? Dinner and drinks while wearing a giant birthday hat? Or just ignoring the whole thing and hoping no one remembers you’re another year older?
Well, one unlikely candidate has made themselves contender for having the most decadent birthday celebrations of 2019 – by eating lobster in bed.
The President of Ecuador – Lenin Moreno – celebrated his most recent milestone by reclining in a luxury hotel room in a comfy tee, polishing off a platter of the pricey seafood, and watching football all day with his wife.
And there are photos to prove it.
Moreno has been criticised for the pictures (said by some to have reportedly been leaked by Julian Assange), because his administration is currently imposing strict austerity measures on the country – and room service in a king-size bed doesn’t exactly scream hard times.
Whether or not the picture is a political kick in the teeth for Ecuadorians, it does raise the question: is there a better birthday treat than a buffet of crustaceans between the sheets?
Twitter doesn’t think so.
There were those who were concerned about the crumbs, obviously.
