Jenna Coleman Rules As Young Queen In First Clip Of 'Victoria'

This is the actress's first big role since she departed 'Doctor Who'.

ITV have given viewers their first peek of brand new drama ‘Victoria’, and it seems the second longest-reigning British monarch is safe in Jenna Coleman’s hands.

Jenna plays the title role in this big-budget eight-part drama that follows the early life of the young Queen, from her accession to the throne aged only 18, through her courtship and marriage to her beloved Prince Albert.

The series promises to chronicle the private and public life of of one of British history’s most generation-defining figures.

Jenna’s career has gone from strength to strength, since her huge break as Doctor Who’s companion Clara Oswald. She currently appears in box office hit ‘Me Before You’.

Tom Hughes (whom some, aka me, have pegged as a possible future James Bond) will play her consort Albert, while Rufus Sewell co-stars as the Queen’s tireless adviser Lord Melbourne.

The drama is set for ITV later this year.
