Joe Wicks has revealed that his daily PE lessons have already raised £80,000 for the NHS.

Due to the coronavirus lockdown, Joe – known to his fans as The Body Coach – has been hosting daily work-out videos on his YouTube channel, which aim to get children moving while the UK’s schools are closed.

The fitness expert recently announced that rather than profiting from the videos, he’d be donating any ad revenue to the NHS, aiding the frontline workers who are currently helping those in need in the pandemic.

On Wednesday, he revealed to Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid on Good Morning Britain, via video-link, that the amount he’s raised currently stands at £80,000.

He said: “In the past week alone on the past seven videos, the AdSense is at $100,000 [just over £80,000].

“Every penny from the workout that we do from this school stuff for now until forever… all of that money is going to the NHS. We are raising money through these workouts.”

“The more we do it the more we raise. It’s amazing, I’m so proud of that,” he added.

He previously wrote on Instagram: “As a result of so many people viewing the #PEWithJoe workouts on YouTube the advertising revenue generated has been unlike anything I’ve seen or experienced on my channel before.

“So I’ve decided that as long as I’m the nation’s PE teacher, every single penny of the money generated on these videos is going to the place where we need it the most right now. All of it is going straight to the NHS, to support the real heroes right now.”

He added: “Thank you for watching, joining in and sharing… I’m loving being your PE Teacher and now you can watch again, knowing you’re not only staying fit, you’re also helping raise money for the NHS.”

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
