John Simpson: We're All Shallow In Our Sympathy Towards Terrorism Victims

Or, as veteran foreign correspondent John Simpson puts it: “Your chances of being hit by lightning are 72 times greater than your chances of being affected in any way by a terrorist attack.

“It’s tiny” - he adds, yet in the West we are far more likely to hear about a terror attack taking place in the US, France or Britain than we are hearing about one in Afghanistan, Iraq or Syria.

According to Simpson, the world is shallow in its sympathy for terror victims - and he, too, is guilty.
