Labour’s general election Facebook campaign reached more than 29 million unique users, the party’s general secretary has claimed.
Iain McNicol added 7.3 million people also viewed, within a two-day period, Labour’s Snapchat messages designed to get voters to head out on polling day.
The party added leader Jeremy Corbyn’s video posts on his social media feeds such as Facebook and Twitter were viewed 72.6 million times during the campaign, which ran from April 18 to June 8.
Speaking in Brighton, Mr McNicol told delegates: “This was an election where our online campaigning came into its own.
“Labour had more than 1.2 million shares on Facebook. We reached over 29 million unique Facebook users.
“In the last two days of the campaign alone, 7.3 million individuals viewed our Get Out the Vote message on Snapchat.”
Labour made gains at the general election, denying the Conservatives a majority and winning 30 extra seats in the process.
Mr McNicol also said Labour has 570,000 members, making it the “largest political party in Europe”.
