When Caroline Flack teased that Tuesday night’s Love Island was going to be one of the best episodes in its five-year history, she really wasn’t joking.

Last night, we witnessed the mother of all recouplings as the doors to Casa Amor closed, and the Islanders were forced to decided whether to stick with their original partner or couple up with a newbie.

The results could not possibly have been more dramatic, as Curtis trampled all over Amy’s heart, and Michael did the unthinkable by dumping Amber for new girl Joanna.

With Twitter having a field day over the episode, here’s 16 reactions that sum up the absolute drama of it all.

1. Curtis grafting on an unsuspecting Jourdan was all kinds of cringe

2. While she let him down gently, Curtis’ moves could not have backfired any harder

3. As Curtis confessed his doubts about his relationship with Amy in front of the whole group, Maura’s face was all of us

4. As an unsuspecting Amy walked back into the villa, Curtis didn’t exactly hide his feelings well

5. There was an outpouring of sympathy for poor Amy, who had no idea what Curtis had been up to

6. There was a lot of anger, too

7. And quite frankly, we’re not sure how he’s going to dig himself out of this one

8. Tommy continued to cement himself as the loveliest lad in the villa

9. His and Molly-Mae’s emotional reunion had us all in tears

10. As Michael stood up, there was an impending sense that something horrible was coming

11. And as he officially dumped Amber for Joanna, the girls created enough content for GIFs and memes to last a lifetime

12. As Anna struggled to hide her feelings, debate raged about whether she was throwing stones inside a glass house

13. But there were many people who were quick to point out what she’d done was not the same as what Michael had done

14. Amber’s initial reservations about Michael came back to haunt her

15. While the person running her social media accounts did a perfect job of summing up the drama

16. But with things set to boil over in tonight’s episode, we’re fully braced for fireworks

Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2.
