Mac Miller Dead Aged 26: Reports

He was reportedly found dead in his California home.

Mac Miller has died at the age of 26, media outlets in the US have reported.

TMZ were the first to report the news, claiming that Mac, real name Malcolm James McCormick, was found dead at his California home on Friday.

The website stated that a male friend called 911 from the San Fernando Valley house and that authorities pronounced Mac dead at the scene.

Representatives for Mac did not immediately respond to HuffPost US’s request for comment. Neither did the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s office.

Mac had a long history with substance abuse and spoke openly about his issues on multiple occasions.

In May, he was arrested for driving under the influence (DUI), after totalling his car and fleeing the scene.

He previously overcame an addiction to promethazine in 2012 and talked about his drug use in a 12-minute documentary called “Stopped Making Excuses” that came out in 2016.

“I get super fucked up, still, all the time,” he said in the short film. “That will never stop. But I’m in control of my life. I’m not fucked up right now. I’m chillin’.”

His 2014 mixtape ‘Faces’ also included numerous references to drug use.

Mac previously dated popstar Ariana Grade but the pair broke up in May, just two weeks before his DUI arrest.
