Madonna has hit out at fans for posting recordings of her Madame X live show on social media, despite the fact phones are supposed to be banned from her performances.

The singer revealed shortly before the launch of her mammoth theatre shows that when fans arrived at the venues, their mobile phones would be put in sealed pouches, which they would be able to reopen when they left.

However, some sneaky fans have still been able to capture footage of the show, which has since started doing the rounds on Twitter, leaving Madonna a little irked, to say the least.

In an Instagram post referencing her Madame X alter-ego, she fumed: “Madame X so appreciates all who came to the theatre and enjoyed the show with their eyes and ears only——However she is mystified and bewildered that their are others who refuse to honor her wishes and continue to sneak in recording devices or tear open the sealed pouches to film the show, Disturbing the audience and the performers and disrespecting her as an artist [sic]”

Madonna added: “If you cannot experience Madame X theatre without the use of a recording device-then this show is not for you!!”

Madonna launched her latest world tour earlier this week in New York, and received great reviews from opening night, despite coming on stage two hours later than scheduled, meaning her show didn’t end until around 1am.

Interestingly, Madonna has repeatedly been called out for using her own phone in the theatre in the past, including once during a screening of 12 Years A Slave and another instance while watching Hamilton on Broadway.
