It’s taken 62 years, but Madonna has finally got her first ever tattoo.

The singer shared her new inking with fans on social media - and the new design is very much a family affair.

In a series of photos posted on Instagram, Madge is seen visiting the Shamrock Social Club in Los Angeles and interacting with tattoo artist East Iz.

The finished design has the letters “L R D M S E” on the inside of her wrist, a tribute to her six children: Lourdes, 24; Rocco, 20; David, 15; Mercy, 14; and twins Stella and Estere, eight.

Captioning the photo of her new body art, Madonna wrote: “Inked for The Very First Time,” a nod to the lyrics of her 1984 hit Like A Virgin.

Earlier this year, the singer – who has swapped her signature blonde locks for bubblegum pink tresses – confirmed she is co-writing and directing a biopic about her life and nearly 40-year career as a pop icon.

Diablo Cody, who won an Oscar for writing the screenplay of Juno, is collaborating with the star on the script.

The film will cover such aspects of the singer’s life as her early years as a dancer in Manhattan; her friendships with artists like Jean-Michel Basquiat, Andy Warhol and Keith Haring; her uncomfortable encounters with Evita composer Andrew Lloyd Webber; and the conflict over the religious imagery in her Like A Prayer video, according to The Wrap.

“I want to convey the incredible journey that life has taken me on as an artist, a musician, a dancer ― a human being, trying to make her way in this world,” Madonna said in a statement.

“The focus of this film will always be music. Music has kept me going and art has kept me alive. There are so many untold and inspiring stories and who better to tell it than me. It’s essential to share the roller coaster ride of my life with my voice and vision.”

There’s no word yet on who might be cast to play key roles, including the Queen of Pop herself, or when the film will be released.
