A man is to go on trial later this year charged with murdering a cousin of TV weatherman Alex Beresford.

Lovel Bailey, 29, is accused of stabbing Nathaniel Armstrong, also 29, in Fulham, west London, on Saturday March 16.

Bailey, of Bromwich Walk, Little Bromwich, Birmingham, was arrested at Gatwick Airport on Tuesday.

He appeared at the Old Bailey via video-link on Friday and was told his trial has been set for November 18.

He was remanded in custody and is next due to appear at the same court on June 21 for a plea hearing.

The incident is alleged to have happened during an argument between Armstrong and the defendant.

Beresford, 38, has described his cousin as “a bright young man with his whole future ahead of him”.

The killing happened 11 days after the weatherman spoke out about knife crime on ITV’s breakfast programme, Good Morning Britain.

Armstrong died shortly before 1am in Gowan Avenue – the same street where TV presenter Jill Dando was murdered 20 years ago.
