The actor is best known for playing Walford’s Syed Masood, who made soap history for being the first ever gay Muslim character on screen.

Issac will catch the eye of fellow doctor Dominic Copeland (David Ames), when he arrives on Keller Ward later this summer.

Of his new role, Marc said: “I am so pleased to be joining the lovely and incredibly welcoming cast of ‘Holby City’, and very much looking forward to playing this complex and flawed character.

“My twin sister was born with the brains and has been working as a fully qualified veterinary surgeon for some years now. I am chuffed that I'm finally going to be able to compete if only in the pretend world!”

Oliver Kent, Executive Producer of ‘Holby City’, added: “We are delighted to welcome Marc to team Holby and we can’t wait to see him striding the wards of the Hospital.

"Charming, confident and twinkly, Issac Mayfield will make a handsome addition to the Keller team and will quickly brighten up Dominic’s life…”

Marc played EastEnders’ Syed for three years, before his character left in 2012 for a fresh start with lover Christian Cooke, played by John Partridge.

As well as his role on ‘EastEnders’, he has previously appeared in ‘The Bill’, ‘Midsomer Murders’ and has appeared in various West End productions.

Marc will be filming with the ‘Holby’ team for six months, and will appear on screen from June.
