You’d be forgiven for thinking BladeGlider is the name of the latest futuristic blockbuster, considering actor Margot Robbie is in it.

But Margot’s latest role isn’t on a movie set; the actor has just been announced as Nissan’s new electric vehicle (EV) ambassador.

This new partnership aims to help spread the awareness of electric vehicles and reflects Margot Robbie’s passion for a more sustainable future. Nissan’s sustainable strategy is to decrease carbon emissions by 50% by 2030.

To announce the partnership the Suicide Squad and Wolf of Wall Street actor took the hot seat behind the wheel of the radical all-electric BladeGlider.

The BladeGlider is more than a sports car; it represents the intersection of technology, sustainability and pure fun. From an engineering point of view, Nissan designed and developed BladeGlider to stretch its own understanding of the potential of fully electric vehicles and the power they contain.

“It’s a really exciting time for electric vehicles,” said Robbie.

“More people are choosing to go electric, leading the way to a more sustainable future and the Nissan BladeGlider hints at the future of smarter performance cars,” she enthused.

During the high-voltage test drive, Robbie – famed for doing her own stunts in her movies – puts the zero-emission prototype through its paces by zooming the three-seater around the world-famous Monaco Grand Prix circuit at midnight.

Robbie, who revealed she’d been driving since she was ten-years-old during her appearance on BBC show Top Gear, admitted the Monaco drive blew away all her conventional ideas of an all-electric car’s capability.

As the manufacturer of the world’s best-selling electric vehicle the LEAF, Nissan is also revolutionising the way energy is generated and utilised with products like its intelligent xStorage Home unit which allows people to store sustainable energy, and vehicle-to-grid technology, which harnesses the power of battery technology from electric vehicles.

The Nissan BladeGlider will be on display at the 87 Geneva International Motor Show from 7 to 19 March 2017.
