"Haha, Mark Francois having an absolute shocker on Brexflix right now."

Being an MP is a tough gig by any measure, full of long hours and high stress – not to mention the public abuse.

But if you do happen to find yourself elevated to such a lofty position, there are some things you can do to make your life easier.

One of those things, and possibly the most important, is not to say daft stuff on live TV.

Take Tory MP Mark Francois for example, an MP whose primary claim to fame pre-Brexit referendum was making waves during the expenses scandal due to his fondness for Peperami and Twiglets.

Francois appeared on Sky News on Wednesday to extol the virtues of Brexit to host Adam Boulton, saying: “We want to live in a free country, that elects its own government, and makes its own laws, and then lives under those laws in peace.”

A perplexed Boulton interjected by saying, “We already are.” But Francois was not to be deterred, backing up his claim with the absolute solid argument of: “I don’t think we are.”

HuffPost UK understands that Mark is fully aware that he British, is currently in Britain and does in fact represent a constituency of Brits in the British halls of British political power.

So it is with this in mind that it was slightly harder to feel sorry for him when he nipped over to the Beeb for another interview on Brexit but was spectacularly drowned out by a heckler.

HuffPost UK approached Francois for comment on a separate matter at the ERG meeting last night, but he just threw his hands in the air and shouted “NOOOOOO”.
