McDonald's Has Launched Vegan McNuggets

YUM.

As meat-free options advance beyond stuffed peppers and halloumi cheese skewers, vegetarians and vegans will be thrilled to hear that McDonald’s is launching vegan ‘McNuggets’.

Rather than the chicken breast in the original recipe, these meat-free alternative nuggets are made from a mashed potato base, blended with a mix of chickpeas, onions, carrots and corn, wrapped in the classic breadcrumb coating. This is perfect for people who are trying to cut down on eating meat, but often find themselves drunkenly eating McChicken nuggets at 1am. Just saying.

Currently, the tasty-sounding food is only available in Norway. The fast food chain is currently trialling them to see whether they are popular enough to become a permanent fixture on the menu.

If the success of Greggs’ vegan sausage roll is anything to go by, we’re sure these will be a huge hit in the UK. We say, hurry up McDonald’s.

McDonald's

You may be surprised to know that this isn’t the first vegan option on the menu at Maccy Ds. In early 2019 the fast food retailer revealed the “McFalafel” in Sweden made from chickpeas, parsley, garlic, and cumin. There was also the soy-based ‘McVegan’ burger that was rolled out in Finland and Sweden too. That’s not forgetting the very first vegetarian happy meal which arrived in the UK earlier this year too.

Whilst currently there are no certified vegan products on the Mcdonald’s menu, HuffPost has reached out to the fast food chain to see if the vegan ‘McNuggets’ will be available in the UK anytime soon and will update this article accordingly.
