Piers Morgan has claimed Mel B made a panicked phone call to bandmate Geri Horner, after detailing a supposed Spicy encounter between them on his Life Stories show.
During the interview, which was filmed last week, Piers was told by Mel B that she and Geri had a one-night stand at the height of their Spice Girls fame in the 1990s.
Tabloid reports had later claimed Mel was worried about Geri’s reaction, even calling her up to apologise immediately after the interview – which Piers has now backed up.
Reacting to the bombshell interview on Monday’s Good Morning Britain, he said about the rumoured frenzied call: “That is, I believe, true.
“There was a lot of flurried activity after the recording. I asked: ‘Where’s Mel?’ and [he was told] ‘She is just making a call to Geri trying to smooth things over’.”
“It’s all kicking off,” he said. “Geri is now briefing that it never happened. She is obviously slightly panicking about whatever ‘Mr Geri’ thinks.”
Piers added: “It was an extraordinary revelation... it couldn’t get spicier than that. It was funny watching Mel C [in the audience] though, afterwards she was like: ‘Oh my god, what has she done?’ It was hilarious. Thank god she did it on my show is all I can say.”
Mel previously admitted she thought Geri would “kill her” for making the claims, and thought her husband, Christian Horner, would not be pleased either.
“She is going to hate me for this because she is all posh in her country house and her husband, but it’s a fact,” Mel said during filming on Friday. “She is going to kill me and so is her husband.
“Hopefully when Geri gets asked that, which hopefully she will after this, she won’t deny it, because it was just a thing, a fun thing.”
Detailing the alleged liaison, Mel added: “It just happened and we just giggled at it and that was it. She had great boobs. We were best friends. It just happened.”
Geri’s representatives declined to comment when contacted by HuffPost UK.
Mel and Geri will soon be back on stage with Mel C and Emma Bunton on the Spice Girls’ reunion tour, which kicks off in two months.
