Noise-Cancelling Earbuds Will Silence Your Snoring Partner

Sleeping with a snorer is a challenge, and many a murder has been contemplated at 2am. Here's a far more civilised way to deal with it.

Snoring is a sad fact of life for many couples – and whether you're the snorer or the snored-at, nobody comes out winner.

A Finnish company has come up with what it believes is the perfect solution.

It's called the QuietOn Sleep, and it's a pair of tiny in-ear buds that use noise-cancelling technology to effectively silence your partner's snoring.

QuietOn

These tiny earbuds have been developed by a team of ex-Nokia audio experts and are designed specifically with sleep in mind.

That means the earbuds are small enough so that even if you're sleeping on your side, you shouldn't be able to feel them pushing into your ear.

Inside each earbud is an active noise control system, using contradictory sound to cancel out both itself and the snoring noise.

The end result? All you'll hear is silence.

If you need to hear what's going on around you, a simple tap on the earbuds returns you to normal audio.

While the system has been designed primarily with sleep in mind, its designers say it could also help cancel noise in other loud environments – tube trains, open-plan offices, busy streets.

The earbuds come with their own charging case, and can provide up to 20 hours of noise cancelling per charge.

The device is currently crowdfunding on Indiegogo, and its designers have more than surpassed their $50,000 (~R588,000), goal with over $122,000 (~R1.44-million) pledged already.
