Notting Hill Carnival 2016 Blighted By Stabbings And Arrests

More than 100 people were arrested.

Five people were stabbed and more than 300 people arrested at the 2016 Notting Hill Carnival.

Police seized more than 150 canisters of nitrous oxide from Wormington Road, in Kensington and Chelsea, on Sunday. 

Metropolitan Police made over 300 arrests, with some individuals arrested for more than one offence.

There were 74 arrests relating to drug offences on Sunday, and 24 were related to an offensive weapon. 

There were also four arrests for sexual offences, nine of actual bodily harm (ABH) and two of grievous bodily harm (GBH).

A 15-year-old boy was taken to hospital after police were called to reports of a stabbing on Wornington Road, Kensington and Chelsea, at 4.25pm. His condition, which was critical, is now not life threatening.

A 14-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of GBH and taken to a central London police station.

A 20-year-old man was taken to hospital following reports of a stabbing on Portobello Road shortly before 4.30pm. His condition is not life threatening and no arrests have been made.

A 16-year-old boy and a 15-year-old boy were stabbed at Ladbroke Grove shortly after 5pm. Their conditions are not life threatening and no arrests have been made.

A man approached officers at Kensal Rise tube station and told them he had been stabbed and sustained a cut to the head. He did not provide any further details and left the scene.
