Oldbury Lorry Crash Victim, 11, Named By Police

Police have named an 11-year-old boy who died after he was hit by a lorry.

Kyle Bastable – who was also known as Joe by family members – suffered serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene in Oldbury, West Midlands, at about 10pm on Thursday.

Police said the driver of the vehicle stopped following the collision and is helping with inquiries.

A second boy was assessed at the scene by medics and allowed to go home with his parents.

The incident happened on the busy Birchley roundabout, near junction two of the M5, and the road was closed for more than seven hours.

Detective Sergeant Paul Hughes, of West Midlands Police, said: “A young boy has tragically lost his life and we are trying to establish the circumstances of what happened last night.

“This is a very busy junction and we are keen to hear from anybody who was in the area at the time and may have witnessed the collision – or saw the boy who was with a friend just beforehand.
