The wait is almost over, and this year’s Oscars winners are about to be revealed.
Joker is leading the pack this year with 11 nominations, while The Irishman, 1917 and Once Upon A Time In Hollywood each have 10.
Among the British nominees are Florence Pugh from Little Women, Cynthia Eviro from Harriet, The Two Popes stars Anthony Hopkins and Jonathan Pryce and film director Sam Mendes.
Joaquin Phoenix, Renée Zellweger, Brad Pitt and Laura Dern have also received acting recognition, after all four of them enjoyed huge success at the Golden Globes, SAG Awards, Baftas and Critics Choice Awards earlier in awards season.
Essentially, we’re predicting big things for them.
Regrettably, despite a strong showing from filmmakers like Greta Gerwig and Lulu Wang, no women WERE nominated in the Best Director category, as was the case at the Golden Globes and Baftas this year.
