Normal People star Paul Mescal just got even cooler, after teaming up with the Rolling Stones.
The Irish actor is set to appear in the band’s latest video for new track Scarlett.
A short teaser of Paul in action debuted on Monday, showing him in a dishevelled state in a hotel room, struggling to get the song to play on a laptop.
He then downs a drink and says to the camera: “I think we’ll be fine.”
The full video for the song – which is a previously unreleased track the group recorded with Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page in 1974 – will see Paul as a “rock ’n’ roll leading man”.
The video is described as a “love letter” to Scarlet and was directed by filmmaking duo US with a socially distanced shoot at London’s Claridge’s Hotel.
The full video will debut on Thursday.
Fans of Paul’s will already know that he actually has musical chops of his own.
The star shared a video of his hidden talent after making a name for himself on BBC Three’s adaptation of Sally Rooney’s Normal People earlier this year.
His rendition of Sia’s Chandelier won praise from the woman herself when he shared the clip on Instagram.
Sharing it on her own account, she wrote: “I’m watching Normal People right now and you’re incredible in it. And now this! Congratulations and hope to meet one day!”
Last week, Paul discovered he had been nominated for an Emmy for his role as Connell Waldron in the BBC drama.
However, he was disappointed to see co-star Daisy Edgar-Jones – who appears opposite him in the series as Marianne Sheridan – miss out on a nomination.
He told Vulture: “If it was me I would have given her all the love in that category. I can’t speak highly enough of the work she did on the show.
“I know there are extraordinary actresses nominated in that category, but I think Daisy’s work is just phenomenal in this.”
