'EastEnders' fans have said goodbye to a legend, as much-loved character Peggy Mitchell has been killed off in some of the soap's most emotional scenes ever.

The original Walford matriarch - played by Barbara Windsor - has been a fixture on our screens since 1991, and despite leaving Albert Square in 2010, she has continued to pop back for guest appearances.

Over the last 25 years, the pub landlady has been involved in many of the soap's most iconic storylines along with the rest of her on-screen "faaaaaamily".

She's beaten breast cancer twice, enjoyed many scraps with the likes of Pat Butcher and Sharon Watts, and shouted "Get outta my pub!" more times than we've had hot dinners.

But Peggy met her maker, after ending her battle with terminal cancer, following Barbara's decision to leave the character behind for good.

As we mourn the loss of one of EastEnders' most iconic characters, we take a look back at Peggy's most memorable moments on Albert Square.
